Job Description

The Forest Fire Officer will take charge of preventing and managing fires in forested areas. Key responsibilities include implementing fire prevention strategies, conducting assessments of fire risk, and leading firefighting teams during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Implement proactive fire prevention strategies in high-risk areas.
• Oversee fire risk assessments and update management plans regularly.
• Lead firefighting teams and ensure effective training and preparedness.
• Liaise with various stakeholders, including community groups and government agencies.
• Assess weather forecasts and adjust fire prevention strategies accordingly.
• Conduct evaluations after fire incidents to inform future practices.
• Create and maintain documentation of fire activities and outcomes.
• Ensure adherence to environmental laws and fire safety regulations.
• Offer guidance to community members on fire prevention measures.
• Engage in fire management research projects to enhance techniques and tools.

Requirements

Education

• National Diploma in Forestry or Environmental Management
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred

Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience in forest fire management.
