Join our growing team as an Insurance Underwriter in Durban. In this role, you will analyze insurance applications, assess risk factors, and establish coverage limits. You will liaise with agents and brokers to provide tailored insurance solutions, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. Responsibilities

• Determine acceptable levels of risk for various insurance products.
• Evaluate loss control recommendations and apply them to underwriting decisions.
• Document all underwriting decisions, rationale, and communications.
• Support the claims department with insights on policy interpretation.
• Utilize underwriting software and tools for efficient decision-making.
• Participate in risk assessment meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.
• Provide technical assistance to less experienced underwriters.
• Conduct market research to identify competitive pricing strategies.
• Ensure adequate training on underwriting software and tools for the team.
• Participate in review meetings to discuss underwriting performance metrics.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or related field

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting, with leadership experience preferred

• Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI)
