Job Description

The Furnace Utility Operator plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing process, focusing on operating and maintaining furnace equipment. This position is crucial for ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control furnace equipment to heat and melt metal.
• Regularly monitor and adjust furnace temperature and pressure.
• Ensure efficient fuel and energy usage for optimal furnace operation.
• Perform routine maintenance on furnace equipment.
• Follow all safety protocols and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Deliver on production goals while ensuring quality standards.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Trade certificate in a relevant field (e.g., Mechanical Fitting, Electrical, Instrumentation)

Experience

• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role

Technical Skills

• SCADA systems
• PLC programming
• Industrial control systems

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills

Advantageous

• Experience working with continuous casting equipment: Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of casting equipment.
