Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Garment Patternmaker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and modifying patterns for clothing items, ensuring that they meet quality standards and fit specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop patterns according to specified designs and production requirements.
• Ensure the precision of measurements and scalability of patterns.
• Work closely with production teams to resolve any garment fitting issues.
• Conduct fittings and modify patterns based on feedback.
• Utilize CAD programs for efficient pattern design.
• Keep up with innovations in pattern-making and garment construction.
• Document changes and updates made to patterns for reference.
• Engage with suppliers to select appropriate materials for prototypes.
• Train and mentor junior patternmakers and assistants.
• Participate in trend forecasting and material selection discussions.

Requirements

Education

• Relevant tertiary qualification in fashion design or pattern-making

Experience

• 3+ years in a garment pattern-making role required.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in pattern-making software
• Familiarity with textile properties

Soft Skills

• Team collaboration
• Analytical skills

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in South African fashion industry: Knowledge of local trends and consumer preferences is advantageous.
