Sample Cutter

Job Description

As a Sample Cutter, you will be deftly cutting and preparing fabric and/or paper samples tailored to meet our clients' specifications in the vibrant fashion and textiles industry. You will work collaboratively with designers and other team members to ensure that samples are accurately crafted and delivered on time.

Responsibilities

• Interpret design specifications and patterns.
• Utilize cutting tools (scissors, rotary cutters, etc.) with precision.
• Ensure efficient workflow in the sample department.
• Document and track sample orders and inventory.
• Provide support to the sewing team as needed.
• Participate in team meetings regarding sample production.
• Adhere to safety and quality standards while cutting.
• Assess and report on the condition of cutting tools and supplies.
• Maintain communication with suppliers regarding materials.
• Stay updated on industry trends in textiles and cutting techniques.

Requirements

Education

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
• Experience with digital cutting machines or software is an asset

Experience

• 1+ years of experience in the fashion/textiles industry preferred

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with various fabrics and their characteristics
• Digital cutting software experience

Soft Skills

• Adaptability
• Organizational skills

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with digital cutting machines or software: Proficiency in using technology to improve efficiency in sample cutting.
