Environmental Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to join our Cape Town team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of environmental regulations and sustainable design principles, and a passion for contributing to projects that protect the environment while supporting community development.

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to improve environmental performance across projects.
• Serve as a point of contact for environmental inquiries from clients and government entities.
• Monitor environmental legislation and evaluate its impact on operations.
• Conduct research on best practices in environmental management.
• Collaborate with engineers and planners to incorporate sustainability into designs.
• Prepare documentation for environmental reviews and permit applications.
• Assess risks and develop mitigation strategies for environmental project components.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns in environmental best practices.
• Organize environmental awareness campaigns and community outreach programs.
• Prepare and present findings in professional reports and presentations.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's in Environmental Science or related engineering discipline
• Master's in Environmental Management preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting or engineering

• Environmental Modeling Software

Certifications

• LEED Green Associate
• ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
