Medical Records Specialist

Job Description

As a Medical Records Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in managing patient data and ensuring accurate coding of medical diagnoses and procedures. We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented and has a strong understanding of health information management.

Responsibilities

• Perform coding for various medical procedures and diagnoses in adherence to ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
• Maintain electronic health record systems and ensure data integrity.
• Train and mentor junior coding staff as needed.
• Prepare and present training sessions on coding compliance for staff.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on medical records management.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification in Medical Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, RHIT)
• Bachelor’s degree in health information management is advantageous

Experience

• 3+ years of relevant coding experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems

Certifications

• RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician

Languages

• English: Fluent
