Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Bus and Truck Mechanic to join our team, focusing on diesel engine maintenance and repairs. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background with a deep understanding of farm machinery.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed diagnostics on farm machinery and heavy vehicles.
• Execute engine repairs and overhauls correctly and efficiently.
• Perform scheduled maintenance procedures according to manufacturer specifications.
• Work collaboratively with the service team to meet deadlines.
• Document all service interactions and repairs in the system.
• Train and support apprentices and junior mechanics during service tasks.
• Participate in safety meetings and adhere to safety policies.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and effective work environment.
• Evaluate machinery performance post-repair to ensure quality assurance.
• Foster strong relationships with customers by delivering top-notch service.

Requirements

Education

• Trade Certificate in Diesel Mechanics or equivalent qualification.
• Matric Certificate

Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in diesel mechanics or a related field.

Technical Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Welding and fabrication

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Communication skills

Certifications

• Valid driver's license (advantageous)
• Experience with computer diagnostic tools (advantageous)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with modern diesel diagnostic tools: Experience in using diagnostic software to assess engine performance.
• Understanding of electrical systems in diesel engines: Knowledge of troubleshooting electrical systems in heavy machinery.
