Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Surgeon to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess significant expertise in pediatric surgical procedures, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and delivering exceptional care.

Responsibilities

• Assess and diagnose patients requiring surgical procedures in a timely manner.
• Perform complex pediatric surgeries with a focus on minimizing recovery time.
• Document all surgical procedures accurately in patient files.
• Participate in clinical conferences and contribute to discussions about patient care.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with medical staff and patients’ families.
• Engage actively in quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Requirements

Education

• Medical Degree (MBChB or equivalent)
• Completion of Pediatric Surgery Fellowship

Experience

• Proven experience in complex pediatric surgical procedures

Technical Skills

• Anesthesia Protocols
• Surgical Techniques

Soft Skills

• Crisis Management
• Interpersonal Skills

Certifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Bilingual Proficiency: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Afrikaans.
• Teaching Experience: Experience in teaching medical students or surgical fellows.
