Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Special Needs Learning Advocate to support and empower students with special needs in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of special education practices and demonstrate a passion for advocating for inclusive educational policies.

Responsibilities

• Identify and address barriers to learning and participation for students with special needs.
• Assist in designing inclusive educational programs.
• Provide counseling and emotional support to students and families.
• Encourage collaboration among intervention specialists, therapists, and educators.
• Stay updated on current trends and research in special education.
• Create partnerships with local organisations for additional student support.
• Facilitate professional development opportunities focusing on special needs education.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Education with a focus on Special Needs
• Master's degree preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of experience supporting students with special needs

Technical Skills

• Behavior management strategies
• Collaborative problem-solving

Soft Skills

• Teamwork
• Adaptability

Certifications

• First Aid Certification - Level 2
• Child Development Associate (CDA)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Tswana: Conversational
