Job Description

We are in search of a talented Backend Engineer to join our Durban office. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining server-side applications, ensuring the performance, scalability, and security of our backend systems. A strong understanding of modern web technologies and proficiency in languages such as Python or Java are essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement server-side architecture with a focus on scalability and security.
• Develop APIs for various applications and ensure they are well documented.
• Work closely with product managers to assess and manage project timelines.
• Perform unit testing and troubleshooting to optimize application performance.
• Document development processes and frameworks used.
• Assist in maintaining version control protocols to track changes.
• Provide technical support and twinning to junior developers.
• Identify bottlenecks in the application and propose solutions.
• Engage in continuous integration and deployment strategies.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related field

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on backend systems

Technical Skills

• Django
• API Development

Soft Skills

• Analytical thinking

Certifications

• Google Cloud Professional Developer

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes: Knowledge of container orchestration and deployment tools.
• Microservices architecture experience: Experience working with microservices for software solutions.
