Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter who can manage risk assessments for diverse insurance applications. Your role will include creating policy recommendations and modifying existing policies as necessary. Bring your expertise to our friendly team in Durban, and help us provide exceptional service to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Review policies for renewal and issues needing amendments.
• Communicate with clients and brokers regarding underwriting decisions and concerns.
• Conduct risk assessments using quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Prepare and present findings to senior management or clients.
• Provide guidance to junior underwriters and new team members.

Requirements

Education

• Relevant postgraduate degree is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

Technical Skills

• Underwriting Software Proficiency
• Statistical Analysis

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving Skills
• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) accreditation

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Intermediate

• Experience with Policy Management Systems: Familiarity with contemporary policy management systems used in underwriting.
• Client Relationship Management (CRM) Skills: Ability in utilizing CRM software for better client interaction and documentation.
