Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Durban. In this role, you will assess risk and determine the terms, conditions, and pricing for insurance policies. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of the insurance market and experience in evaluating clients' insurance needs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate potential risks associated with insurance applications.
• Research and analyze data to inform underwriting decisions.
• Engage with clients to explain policy coverage and exclusions.
• Work in conjunction with claim adjusters to assess coverage during claims.
• Identify market opportunities for new products and services.
• Train junior underwriters and support staff.
• Assist with compliance and regulatory requirements in underwriting.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Postgraduate qualifications in insurance are advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the insurance sector

• Statistical Analysis

Certifications

• Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII)
• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

• Experience in corporate underwriting: Hands-on experience in underwriting corporate insurance policies.
