Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining our cloud services' reliability and efficiency. Based in Cape Town, you'll work collaboratively with development teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, implementing best practices to enhance system performance and availability.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate system upgrades and patches in minimal downtime.
• Train and mentor junior staff in SRE best practices and technologies.
• Conduct post-mortem analyses to prevent future incidents.
• Implement security best practices in system designs.
• Support application onboarding activities, ensuring operational readiness.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
• Master's degree in a relevant discipline

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in site reliability engineering

Technical Skills

• Terraform
• Scripting (Python, Bash)

Soft Skills

• Team Leadership
• Adaptability

Certifications

• Google Professional DevOps Engineer

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Serverless Architectures: Knowledge in designing and implementing serverless applications.
• Experience with Load Balancers and Proxies: Hands-on skills in deploying and managing load balancers.
