Veterinarian

Job Description

Join our dedicated team as a Veterinarian in Durban. The perfect fit for this role will have a solid background in veterinary medicine, excellent communication skills, and a caring approach to animal care. This position will involve diagnosing illnesses, providing treatment plans, and performing surgical procedures as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct both routine and emergency examinations on a variety of animals.
• Engage in surgeries ranging from routine spays/neuters to complex surgical procedures.
• Provide guidance to pet owners on dietary and health decisions.
• Monitor the health of animals post-surgery and during treatment.
• Collaborate with the team on treatment planning and care.
• Ensure compliance with veterinary laws and regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the surgical and examination areas.
• Educate future veterinarians and volunteers through mentorship.
• Work with rescue organizations on animal welfare projects.
• Build relationships with clients to ensure ongoing care for their pets.

Requirements

Education

• BVSc (Bachelor of Veterinary Science)
• Postgraduate qualification is preferable.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in veterinary practice with specialization in surgical procedures.

Technical Skills

• Anesthesia management
• Radiology skills

Soft Skills

• Leadership ability
• Crisis management

Certifications

• Veterinary Specialist Certification is an advantage.

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with laser therapy: Familiarity and experience using laser technology in veterinary treatments.
