Job Description

We are on the hunt for a skilled Insurance Underwriter to strengthen our Cape Town office. You will be pivotal in analyzing applications and negotiating terms, ensuring our clients receive tailored insurance solutions that align with their specific needs. A proactive and detail-oriented approach is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments for insurance applications.
• Collaborate with sales teams to provide underwriting support.
• Prepare reports on underwriting results and findings.
• Assist in resolving claims that require underwriting attention.
• Stay informed about industry trends and changes in regulations.
• Provide training and support to junior underwriters and staff.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline
• Advanced insurance qualifications preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of relevant underwriting experience

Technical Skills

• Insurance policy knowledge
• Risk assessment expertise

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Time management

Certifications

• Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (FIISA)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in commercial underwriting: Experience with commercial insurance products is considered a plus.
• Certification in risk management: Risk management certification will be an added advantage.
