Job Description

We are currently seeking an Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will assess risks and determine policy terms, ensuring they align with our underwriting guidelines. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment, engaging with clients and other stakeholders to provide customized solutions tailored to their needs.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal policies according to guidelines.
• Calculate risk exposure and potential financial impact.
• Communicate with clients to gather information and resolve issues.
• Document underwriting decisions and rationales for audit purposes.
• Collaborate with claims adjusters to review claim files.
• Present findings and recommendations to management.
• Keep abreast of market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or a related field
• Postgraduate qualifications in insurance management or finance is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting or related roles

• Credit Analysis

Certifications

• Fellowship of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII)
• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with digital underwriting tools: Familiarity with technologies that enhance the underwriting process.
