Spike Driver

Job Description

As a Spike Driver, you will be responsible for driving and maintaining railway spikes, ensuring they securely fasten the rails to wooden sleepers. This role requires a hands-on approach, working outdoors in all weather conditions while adhering to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Install and secure railway spikes to maintain track stability.
• Conduct visual inspections of spike installations and track conditions.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and safety awareness.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience

• No prior experience required. On-the-job training will be provided.

Technical Skills

• Physical strength
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Basic knowledge of hand tools

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Valid driver's license (Code B or higher)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in railway maintenance: Previous experience in rail systems is beneficial.
• Basic welding skills: Knowledge of welding techniques would be an advantage.
