Actuary

Job Description

We're searching for a proactive Actuary to join our financial team in Johannesburg. You will be tasked with evaluating risk factors and advising clients on financial planning solutions.

Responsibilities

• Research and implement best practices in actuarial modeling.
• Analyze financial data to support decision-making processes.
• Draft and update documentation related to actuarial processes.
• Continuously monitor economic trends and their impact on risk.
• Educate non-actuarial clients about their reports and findings.
• Provide mentorship and support to junior actuarial staff.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics
• Master's degree in Actuarial Science is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years in a relevant actuarial role with strong analytical skills

Technical Skills

• Financial Modeling
• Programming (R, Python)

Soft Skills

Certifications

• Fellowship in Actuarial Science (FSA)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in insurance sector: Familiarity with insurance risk assessment and pricing.
• Knowledge of SAP and Actuarial Software: Experience with actuarial data management systems.
