We are looking for an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risk, and making informed decisions on coverage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and make decisions on insurance applications.
• Collaborate with sales teams to develop competitive policy offerings.
• Ensure documentation meets internal and external regulations.
• Manage a portfolio of insurance policies and clients.
• Provide guidance to clients on coverage options and terms.
• Develop strategies to minimize risks and protect company interests.
• Review and approve policy changes and renewals.
• Stay informed on market conditions and underwriting practices.
• Contribute to team initiatives for improving service delivery.
• Document all interactions and decisions for compliance purposes.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Business, or related field
• Master's degree in a related field is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

• Underwriting Software

Certifications

• Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI)
• Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP)
