Acute Care Nurse

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor the needs of critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and preventative measures.
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
• Manage medical equipment and ensure proper operation and placement within patient care areas.
• Document care provided and patient responses accurately in electronic medical records.
• Assist in training new staff on protocols and procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the standard of care.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment for patients and staff.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families during health crises.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• Postgraduate diploma in critical care nursing preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an ICU or high-dependency unit.

Technical Skills

• Ventilator management
• Intravenous therapy
• Patient monitoring devices

Soft Skills

• Emotional resilience
• Leadership

Certifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is a plus.

Languages

• English: Fluent
