Library Technician

Job Description

As a Library Technician, you will play a crucial role in managing library resources, ensuring the efficient organization and access to information for staff and patients. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in library sciences and excellent administrative skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the receipt and labeling of laboratory samples accurately.
• Input patient and specimen data into electronic records.
• Sort and store library materials appropriately.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of library resources.
• Respond professionally to queries from users regarding library services.
• Adhere to all laboratory protocols related to safety and data management.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the library space.
• Engage in teamwork with laboratory colleagues to optimize workflows.
• Update and manage inventory of library supplies.
• Contribute to the development of new library services.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Degree in Library Science is an advantage

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role

Technical Skills

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software
• Database Management

Soft Skills

• Strong Communication Skills
• Customer Service Orientation

Certifications

• Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with library testing procedures: Experience with laboratory procedures related to specimen management.
• Experience in user training for library systems: Ability to train users in navigating library tools and systems.
