Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to assess risks and determine policy terms for our clients in Pretoria. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background and a passion for the insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform risk assessments for new and existing clients.
• Negotiate terms and coverage options with clients and brokers.
• Prepare reports based on underwriting activities for management.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements in underwriting.
• Collaborate with claims department to analyze claims data.
• Provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay informed about market trends affecting underwriting practices.
• Provide mentorship to junior underwriting staff.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
• CII qualification strongly preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the insurance field, preferably underwriting

• Data Analysis

• Negotiation

Certifications

• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)

Languages

• English: Fluent
