Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Structural Engineer to join our Johannesburg team. In this role, you will design, review, and oversee construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards. You'll work alongside architects and other engineers to develop effective and sustainable structures. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of building materials and structural design principles, as well as excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed structural designs using AutoCAD and other relevant software.
• Review construction plans and specifications for accuracy.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Coordinate with contractors to ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Consult with clients to understand their requirements and expectations.
• Investigate structural failures and provide practical solutions.
• Keep updated with industry trends and new materials or technologies.
• Implement sustainable practices in projects where possible.
• Facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders.
• Assist in quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) certification is a plus

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in structural engineering
