Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Insurance Underwriter to enhance our team in Cape Town. Your role will involve thorough analyses of insurance applications and market trends, allowing you to make sound underwriting decisions that align with our company objectives and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough reviews of client applications and associated documentation.
  • Define risk parameters and underwrite coverage options for various policies.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding their applications and outcomes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions and competitor underwriting practices.
  • Provide detailed feedback and training to junior team members.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to promote new products and services.
  • Prepare and analyze performance metrics related to underwriting decisions.
  • Implement best practices for underwriting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participate in forecasting risk trends and preparing risk assessments.
  • Advise management on underwriting capacity and pricing adjustments.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, or Economics
  • Master's degree is advantageous but not required
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry with a focus on underwriting
