Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our Pretoria office. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risk, and determining policy terms and conditions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a customer-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assess the insurability of applicants based on defined criteria.
• Negotiate terms of coverage with brokers as necessary.
• Provide risk management advice to clients.
• Prepare comprehensive reports of underwriting activities.
• Train and mentor junior underwriting staff.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance or Business Management
• Master's degree is advantageous

Experience

• 3+ years in a similar underwriting role

• Data Analysis

Certifications

• Insurance Risk Management Certification
• Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU)

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Experience in commercial underwriting: Background in underwriting commercial insurance policies.
