General Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented General Accountant to join our finance team in Johannesburg. In this role, you will handle various accounting functions including preparing financial statements, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting our financial planning and analysis efforts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily accounting operations.
• Ensure the timely and accurate completion of reports.
• Provide insights based on financial data to enhance decision-making.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies regarding compliance issues.
• Implement effective internal controls and procedures.
• Assist in strategic planning and risk management.
• Work on continuous improvement of accounting processes.
• Prepare VAT and other tax returns.
• Lead, mentor, and train junior accounting staff.
• Contribute to cross-departmental projects related to finance.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Postgraduate qualification in Finance is an advantage

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in the accounting field, with a focus on financial analysis
