Animal Caretakers

Job Description

As an Animal Caretaker at Wildlife Rehabilitation Trust, you will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation of injured and sick animals. You'll work closely with veterinary professionals and other caretakers to ensure that animals receive the best possible care.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough evaluations on wildlife brought in for care and rehabilitation.
• Create comprehensive treatment plans specific to each animal’s needs.
• Administer intravenous and oral medications as prescribed.
• Document and track the rehabilitation progress of each animal meticulously.
• Maintain a clean and enriching environment for all wildlife in care.
• Assist in educating the community about animal health and rehabilitation efforts.
• Collaborate with other professionals on wildlife rescue operations.
• Support initiatives that facilitate the re-entry of wildlife into their natural habitats.
• Participate in workshops and training related to wildlife care.
• Ensure adherence to legal requirements regarding animal welfare.

Requirements

Education

• Relevant qualifications in Animal Care or Veterinary Science
• Higher qualification in Animal Welfare is preferred

Experience

• Experience working with native South African wildlife species is advantageous
