Correctional Officer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Correctional Officer who will be responsible for maintaining safety and order in a correctional facility. You will monitor inmate activities, enforce rules, and assist with the rehabilitation process.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate movements and activities throughout the facility.
• Conduct routine checks to ensure the integrity of safety equipment.
• Engage in community outreach efforts to foster relationships with local organizations.
• Assist in planning and executing programs that help inmates develop skills.
• Collaborate with external law enforcement agencies as needed.
• Ensure all mandatory training sessions for staff are up-to-date.
• Participate in meetings to discuss facility operations and inmate needs.
• Report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities immediately.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly facility environment.

Requirements

Education

• Matric certificate or equivalent
• Additional safety certifications preferred.

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in correctional or law enforcement roles.

Certifications

• Advanced First Aid Certification
• PSIRA Registration

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Physical fitness certification: Certification or proof of physical fitness to handle the demands of the role.
• Experience working with rehabilitation programs for inmates: Hands-on experience in facilitating inmate rehabilitation efforts.
