Public Health Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a Public Health Specialist to join our passionate team in Johannesburg. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing health initiatives that tackle pressing public health issues. You will work closely with community partners and stakeholders to promote health education, disease prevention, and overall wellness.

Responsibilities

• Lead public health assessments in various communities.
• Cultivate relationships with community leaders and organizations.
• Evaluate community health programs to determine effectiveness.
• Prepare grant proposals for funding health initiatives.
• Develop training programs for health educators and community health workers.
• Research best practices in public health to implement in initiatives.
• Document and report outcomes of public health programs.
• Organize health fairs and community outreach events.
• Advise on strategies to improve health literacy in communities.
• Foster a culture of health within the community.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health or a related discipline
• Master's degree in Public Health is preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in health promotion and community engagement

Certifications

• Certified in Public Health (CPH)
• Health Coaching Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of health promotion strategies: Experience implementing health promotion strategies in diverse community settings.
• Fluency in an additional local language: Proficiency in a local language such as Zulu or Xhosa is a plus.
