Bereavement Coordinator

Job Description

We seek a Bereavement Coordinator who will provide essential support and guidance to individuals and families experiencing loss. This role involves facilitating funeral arrangements, offering grief support, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Facilitate communication between bereaved families and service providers.
• Ensure confidentiality and sensitivity in all interactions.
• Evaluate and improve bereavement services based on family feedback.
• Provide ongoing support and resource connections to families post-loss.
• Participate in community outreach programs to raise awareness on grief support.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s in Social Work or Counseling
• Certification in thanatology preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years in grief counseling or related fields.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of bereavement counseling techniques
• Database management

Soft Skills

• Compassionate communication
• Teamwork

Languages

• English: Fluent
• isiXhosa: Conversational

Advantageous

• Additional qualifications in related fields: Additional certifications in grief counseling or social work are advantageous.
• Experience in public speaking for community engagement: Ability to deliver presentations on grief and bereavement topics.
