Structural Engineer

Job Description

As a Structural Engineer with us, you will play a vital role in designing and overseeing construction projects. Our ideal candidate will have experience with structural analysis software and demonstrate an understanding of sustainable design principles. You will be involved in all phases of the project, from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for engineering concerns related to construction projects.
• Evaluate and select construction materials based on project specifications.
• Perform risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential project risks.
• Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors.
• Keep current on industry trends, regulations, and advancements.
• Field inquiries from contractors, clients, and local authorities regarding design alternatives and solutions.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on structural design and engineering experience

• Advanced CAD Software
• Regulations and Codes

Certifications

• Structural Engineer certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Conversational

Advantageous

• Proficiency in BIM software: Experience using Building Information Modeling software for project development.
• Background in geotechnical engineering: Knowledge of soil mechanics and site conditions to aid design decisions.
