We are on the lookout for a Tax Specialist in Durban to handle varied tax functions, including compliance checks, audits, and filing tax returns. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of tax legislation and have the ability to formulate strategic tax plans for clients. Responsibilities

• Prepare and file all necessary tax returns with government agencies.
• Stay informed about changes in tax laws that may affect clients.
• Work closely with clients to understand their tax issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Assist in preparing tax strategies that align with business objectives.
• Train and mentor junior staff on tax compliance and practices.
• Participate in tax planning and strategy sessions with clients.
• Ensure timely response to all inquiries from tax authorities.
• Develop training materials and resources for client education.
• Collaborate with external accountants and tax consultants.
• Monitor tax software updates and maintain systems used for tax preparation.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Relevant tax certification or qualification preferred

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in taxation or a related field

• Understanding of VAT and Customs: Knowledge of VAT and customs tax regulations applicable in South Africa.
