Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Community Health Worker to join our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in delivering healthcare services, conducting outreach, and promoting wellness in the community. With a focus on holistic health, you will support individuals and families in accessing essential health resources and services.

Responsibilities

• Engage with community members to provide information about available health services.
• Facilitate access to preventive care and screenings.
• Develop and distribute health promotion materials tailored to the community's needs.
• Coordinate with local organizations to deliver nutrition and exercise programs.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of health education initiatives.
• Assist in training volunteers to support community health initiatives.
• Implement strategies for improving health literacy among community members.
• Connect individuals to mental health resources and support services.
• Document and report all community health activities to the Health Program Manager.
• Remain current on health trends and issues affecting the community.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Nursing or related field
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in community health outreach or nursing

Technical Skills

• Health promotion strategies
• Community liaison experience

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Cultural competence

Certifications

• First Aid Certification
• Community Health Worker Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational
