As a Medical Records Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing and submitting medical claims to insurance companies while ensuring accurate and timely reimbursements. Your expertise in medical billing procedures and compliance will be essential as you liaise with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the submission and follow-up of medical claims.
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve claim discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
• Educate healthcare staff on billing processes and insurance requirements.
• Conduct audits on billing records for accuracy.
• Assist in the development of billing protocols and processes.
• Monitor accounts and provide updates on payment status.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA laws.
• Engage in continuous professional development related to medical billing.
• Act as a resource for billing inquiries from patients and providers.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in healthcare administration or related field
• Certification in medical billing (e.g. CPC, CCS) preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in medical billing or healthcare administration
