Job Description

As our new Veterinary Surgeon, you will have an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of animals and their owners. Our practice prioritizes compassionate care and client education. You’ll be involved in advanced medical procedures and surgeries while providing excellent follow-up care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct health check-ups and diagnostics on pets.
• Perform surgeries including spaying, neutering, and other necessary procedures.
• Educate pet owners regarding healthcare, nutrition, and behavior.
• Maintain high standards of treatment and care for animals.
• Participate in training and mentoring junior veterinary staff.
• Evaluate patients for rehabilitation and ongoing care needs.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as part of the call-out team.
• Ensure compliance with health regulations and standards.
• Foster relationships with clients for long-term care plans.
• Contribute to a positive workplace culture and collaborative environment.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent

Experience

• A minimum of 3 years in a clinical or surgical practice

Technical Skills

• Surgical skills
• Diagnostic imaging

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving

Certifications

• Registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Basic
