Mental Health Counselor

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Mental Health Counselor to join our dedicated team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing counseling and support to individuals facing mental health challenges. You'll work closely with clients to develop treatment plans and facilitate sessions that promote coping strategies and mental well-being.

Responsibilities

• Administer initial assessments for new clients.
• Create personalized therapy plans and modify as necessary.
• Lead therapy sessions, both one-on-one and in groups.
• Monitor and document client progress toward treatment goals.
• Provide support and resources to families of clients.
• Engage in professional training and development.
• Network with local mental health resources to enrich service provision.
• Educate the community on mental wellness and available services.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Social Work or related field
• Professional registration with the relevant board is an advantage

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a counseling setting

Certifications

• Mental Health First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

Advantageous
