Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our Port Elizabeth office. In this role, you will evaluate insurance applications, assess risks, and determine policy terms to ensure sound underwriting practices. Your analytical skills will play a crucial role in helping our clients receive the coverage they need while maintaining the company’s profitability.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate requests for insurance coverage and policy renewals.
• Develop underwriting guidelines and strategies to optimize profitability.
• Utilize actuarial data to inform insurance pricing and risk assessment.
• Assist in the development of new insurance products.
• Collaborate with claims team on underwriting-related inquiries.
• Lead and participate in team meetings to enhance underwriting practices.
• Document and maintain records for all underwriting decisions.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or related field
• Advanced certifications in underwriting are highly desirable

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

• Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) Certification
