Veterinary Surgeon

Job Description

As a Veterinary Surgeon at our clinic in Johannesburg, you will be at the forefront of animal healthcare, diagnosing illnesses, performing surgeries, and guiding pet owners through treatment options. We’re looking for someone who is not only skilled but also compassionate.

Responsibilities

• Assess animal health through physical examinations and diagnostic tests.
• Perform various surgical procedures safely and effectively.
• Build trusting relationships with pet owners to encourage compliance.
• Maintain up-to-date records of all treatments and surgeries.
• Educate the public about responsible pet ownership.
• Involve in veterinary outreach programs to enhance community relations.
• Oversee the training of support staff in veterinary practices.
• Participate in veterinary meetings, workshops, and conferences.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor of Veterinary Surgery (BVS)
• Registration with the SAVC required

Experience

• 4+ years of hands-on veterinary experience

Technical Skills

• Surgical Procedures
• Anaesthesia Management

• Problem-Solving

Certifications

• Post-graduate training in specific veterinary fields is preferred
• Advanced Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Certification is advantageous
