Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Juvenile Correctional Officer to supervise juvenile offenders in a secure environment. This role involves developing personalized rehabilitation plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing guidance to support the youth's personal development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily activities of juvenile offenders and ensure compliance with facility policies.
  • Develop tailored rehabilitation plans to address individual needs of juveniles.
  • Conduct regular assessments of juvenile behavior and progress.
  • Work closely with educational and therapeutic staff to facilitate programs for juveniles.
  • Document incidents and maintain accurate records of offender behavior.
  • Engage in restorative justice practices to foster accountability and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to support the reintegration of juvenile offenders into society.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Training in juvenile corrections is preferred.
Experience
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, especially in a correctional or residential setting.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Conflict resolution and mediation skills
Soft Skills
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Teamwork and collaboration
Languages
  • English: Fluent
  • Afrikaans: Fluent
