Veterinarian

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Veterinarian to join our team in Port Elizabeth. In this role, you will provide exceptional veterinary care to a variety of animals while working closely with a dedicated support team.

Responsibilities

• Examine animals and obtain medical histories from pet owners.
• Perform diagnostic tests and analyze results to determine health status.
• Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during surgical procedures.
• Ensure the clinic environment is safe and sanitary for animals.
• Collaborate with other veterinarians to share knowledge and resources.
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications.
• Respond to emergency calls and provide urgent care as needed.
• Build rapport with clients to encourage long-term relationships.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the clinic.
• Advocate for animal welfare in the community.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)
• Postgraduate qualification in Veterinary Medicine is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in a veterinary practice

Technical Skills

• Radiology
• Pharmacology

Certifications

• Veterinary Practice Management Certification
• Behavioral Medicine Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Interest in animal behaviour consultations: Experience and interest in providing behavioural assessments and training.
• Familiarity with holistic medicine: Understanding of alternative therapies for animals.
