Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to assess and evaluate insurance risk for our clients in Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing applications, determining coverage terms, and making informed decisions to manage risk effectively.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess the insurance needs of clients.
• Implement risk mitigation strategies in policy design.
• Evaluate competitive rates and market trends to enhance pricing strategies.
• Collaborate with brokers to understand client requirements.
• Implement best practices in underwriting procedures.
• Monitor claims experience and adjust underwriting guidelines accordingly.
• Contribute to achieving department goals and objectives.
• Provide exceptional customer service throughout the underwriting process.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
• Master's degree in Insurance or related field is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting and risk management

• Policy Analysis

• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Certified Insurance Underwriter (CIU)
• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)

Languages

• English: Fluent
