Job Description

We are on the lookout for a talented Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Durban. The successful candidate should possess a strong foundation in structural design and analysis, along with excellent project management skills. You will work closely with architects and construction teams to develop durable and efficient building solutions tailored to client needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative structural designs based on project requirements.
• Engage with construction teams to ensure effective execution of designs.
• Perform structural calculations and prepare reports detailing findings.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines such as electrical and mechanical.
• Monitor construction progress and address deviations from plans.
• Provide expert advice on the integrity and aesthetics of structures.
• Adapt designs based on feedback from stakeholders to meet evolving project needs.
• Ensure project risks are mitigated effectively through thorough planning.
• Support cost estimation process through detailed analysis and design input.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute insights to improve project delivery.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent
• Master's degree preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in structural engineering design

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Microsoft Project

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Negotiation

Certifications

• Registered Structural Engineer (RSE)
• Certified Construction Manager (CCM)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Proficiency in advanced structural software tools: Experience with software such as SAP2000 and ETABS.
• Knowledge in geotechnical engineering: Understanding of soil mechanics and foundation design.
