Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing prescriptions, and providing excellent customer service. You will assist in patient consultations and maintain accurate records of medications.

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists in clinical duties and medication therapy.
• Handle prescription transfers and refill requests efficiently.
• Monitor medication expiration dates and assist in medication recalls.
• Participate in continuous training and development initiatives.
• Assist in managing pharmacy technology systems.
• Maintain security and confidentiality of patient information.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Pharmacy Technology or related field

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a pharmacy environment preferred

Technical Skills

• IV Compounding
• Pharmaceutical calculations

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician Certification
• Basic Life Support Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Sesotho: Conversational

Advantageous

• Knowledge of local pharmacy regulations: Familiarity with the South African pharmacy laws and regulations.
• Experience with health and wellness consultations: Ability to provide health advice alongside medication dispensing.
