Underwriter

Job Description

We are on the lookout for an experienced Underwriter to become part of our team in Cape Town. This role requires evaluating insurance applications, determining risks, and providing informed recommendations to clients. Strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply underwriting guidelines to policy applications.
• Enhance relationship building with clients and brokers to strengthen company presence.
• Facilitate training for new underwriters on company processes.
• Participate in regular audits of underwriting procedures.
• Develop strategies to improve risk assessment and loss prevention.
• Maintain communication across departments to ensure alignment on underwriting matters.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Economics or a related field
• Advanced insurance certifications are an advantage

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting or insurance risk management

Certifications

• Advanced CII Certification
• FAIS compliant certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Conversational
