Collections Specialist

Job Description

As a Collections Specialist, you will manage and facilitate the collection of outstanding payments from customers. This role is vital in ensuring smooth company cash flow while fostering positive relationships with clients to enhance recovery rates.

Responsibilities

• Establish rapport with customers to facilitate debt recovery.
• Document all collection efforts and interactions accurately.
• Communicate effectively with clients to understand their financial situations.
• Handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
• Work alongside other departments to resolve issues affecting collections.
• Update and maintain databases for collection progress and outcomes.
• Generate reports on collection progress and analyse trends.
• Stay updated on industry regulations related to debt collection.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field
• Certification in debt collection is a plus

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in collections or accounts receivable

Certifications

• Certified Debt Collection Specialist (CDCS)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

• Experience with call centre operations: Background in managing high-volume outbound calls for collections.
