Job Description

As an Orthotist or Prosthetist, you will play a crucial role in evaluating patients' needs and designing custom orthotic and prosthetic devices. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care while collaborating with our multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the specific needs of patients for orthotic and prosthetic solutions.
• Design custom devices while considering patient's lifestyle and physical requirements.
• Oversee fittings, ensure devices are functioning correctly and adjust when necessary.
• Guide patients on the effective use of their orthotic devices.
• Keep precise records of designs, fittings, and patient progress.
• Collaborate with the rehabilitation team for optimal patient care.
• Engage in professional development to stay informed on industry advancements.

Requirements

Education

• Relevant postgraduate qualification in Orthotics and Prosthetics

Experience

• At least 3 years of experience in a clinical setting focused on orthotics and prosthetics.

Technical Skills

• Advanced Prosthetic Fabrication Techniques
• Gait Analysis Systems

Soft Skills

• Empathy
• Problem-solving

Certifications

• Certified Orthotist and Prosthetist (COP)
• CPR and First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience with Pediatric Orthotics: Experience in designing and fitting orthotic devices for children.
• Knowledge of 3D Printing Technologies: Familiarity with the use of 3D printing for custom orthotic solutions.
