Job Description

As a Doula, you will play a pivotal role in providing emotional and physical support to mothers before, during, and after childbirth. Your compassionate presence will help ease the birthing process, advocating for mothers' rights and choices while offering essential guidance during this transformative time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous emotional and physical support to mothers before, during, and after childbirth.
  • Educate clients on their rights and options during the birthing process.
  • Help create an individualized birth plan that aligns with the mother’s wishes.
  • Facilitate communication between the client and healthcare providers.
  • Attend and support clients during prenatal and postnatal appointments.
  • Assist with the initiation of breastfeeding and provide newborn care education.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor and provide reassurance during labor.
  • Ensure a comforting environment for mothers and their families.
  • Document experiences and provide feedback to the team for improving services.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

Education
  • Certification as a Doula
  • Relevant qualification in healthcare or nursing is preferred
Experience
  • Experience in maternity care or social work is advantageous.

  • Understanding of maternal mental health

Certifications
  • Advanced Doula Training Certification
Languages
  • English: Fluent
