Job Description

We are seeking a Public Health Officer to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of public health principles and will be committed to enhancing health services in our communities. This role will involve conducting health assessments, developing public health programs, and collaborating with local health agencies.

Responsibilities

• Initiate evaluation processes to assess the effectiveness of health programs.
• Coordinate health fairs and educational workshops for community engagement.
• Support disease prevention efforts through awareness and education.
• Foster partnerships with local organizations to enhance public health efforts.
• Stay updated on public health policies and best practices to inform program design.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, or a related field
• Master's degree in Public Health preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in community health or public health program implementation

• Epidemiology

• Advocacy

Certifications

• Certified in Public Health (CPH)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Training in cultural competence: Training in cultural awareness and sensitivity in health practices.
• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans or other local languages: Ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages is a plus.
