Job Description

The Career/Technical Education Teacher will be responsible for delivering tailored educational programs to inmates. This role requires a passionate educator with the skills to foster learning in a challenging environment, helping inmates develop key life skills necessary for reintegration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hands-on training programs for vocational skills.
  • Incorporate community resources to enhance learning opportunities.
  • Facilitate group discussions and collaborative learning experiences.
  • Assess the impact of educational programs on inmate behaviour and recidivism.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching modalities to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Maintain open communication with inmates to understand their educational needs.
  • Advocate for programs that address the unique challenges of incarcerated individuals.
  • Support cross-department initiatives that promote educational access.
  • Conduct workshops to improve soft skills such as communication and teamwork.
  • Report on educational outcomes and suggest program improvements.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
  • Additional qualifications in Adult Education or Vocational Training are advantageous.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, specifically with adult learners.
